CISCO – William “James” Elrod, SR., age 82, passed away Monday, February 21, 2022. A visitation will be Friday, February 25th from 5-7:00 PM at Chambers Funeral Home in Cisco, Texas. Services will be held Saturday, February 26th at 11:00 AM also at the Funeral Home; burial will follow at Pioneer Cemetery, located 5 miles East of Cross Plain on Highway 36.
James was born July 2, 1939, in the Pioneer Community in Callahan County to Claudia Mozelle Clark Elrod and Jim Charlie Elrod. He was raised and lived in Cisco, Texas all his life and was an avid Cisco Lobos football and baseball fan. James worked many years in construction and loved fishing, gardening, furniture restoration and enjoyed collecting barbwire. He spent all his spare time watching western movies that he loved. He was a graduate of Cisco in the class of ’59. He married Ruth Ann Ashford September 16, 1960. James was a proud member of the US Navy.
James is preceded in death by his wife of 40 years, Ruth Ann Elrod; mother and step-father, Claudia Clark and Floyd Mellette; father and step-mother, Jim and Mary Elrod; brother, Rodger Elrod; sisters, Mozelle Harris and Delores Finke; step-brother, Leslie Jones; and infant great-granddaughter, Misty Lee Chapman.
He is survived by six children, William James “Jimmy” Elrod, JR. of Cisco, TX, Rhonda and husband Jimmy Antu of Beeville, TX, Beverly and husband George Pointer of Cisco, TX, Tommy and wife Amy Elrod of Kennedale, Tx, Anthony and wife Katrin Elrod of Chesterfield, VA, and Regina and husband David Springston of Cibolo, TX; four brothers, Dell Mellette and wife Sherry, Danny Mellette and wife Andrea, Chris Mellette and wife Sheron, and Allen Elrod and wife Pam; sister, Wanda Brunson and husband Brad; sister-in-law, Rhonda Elrod; 13 grandchildren, Ashley, Jerrod, Allison, Lucinda, Heath, Tate, Andy, Hayden, Caitlin, Aiden, Trey, Jacobie, and Lynlee; 13 great grandchildren, Jase, Auriah, Avery, Jayden, Skylar, Manny, Hailey, Felicity, Ryan, Mia, Hunter, Callen, and Aria; 2 great-great grandchildren, Laylah and Lainey; and numerous other loving relatives and friends.
Pallbearers will be; David Dill, Joe Perry, Buddy Ramirez, Johnny Ramirez, Franky Seabourn, and David Seabourn and Honorary Pallbears will be; Heath Starr, Jerrod Antu, Andy Kludy, Hayden Elrod, and Trey Springston.
