GORMAN – The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) and its contractor closed a portion of FM 679 (Crescent Street) at the intersection of FM 8 (Lexington Street) to begin upgrading drainage structures as part of the SH 6 Reconstruction project. As progress continues, crews are preparing for the next phase of construction activities and traffic impacts.

Over the next two weeks, crews expect to reopen FM 679 at the intersection of FM 8. All northbound traffic on FM 679 will be shifted to the west, from near Kimble St. to FM 8, when the intersection reopens. Temporary traffic signals will be in place to assist drivers through the intersection. This traffic pattern will be in place for approximately six weeks.

Please follow all directional signage and watch for crews and equipment in the work zone. Traffic delays could occur. Please plan accordingly.

Work to upgrade drainage structures through this area is ongoing and is expected to be complete in spring 2025. Various lane closures will occur throughout the duration of construction. Project updates and possible traffic impacts will be shared as work is scheduled.
