On 9/11/2001 Brian and Mel Birdwell’s lives changed forever.

US Army Lt. Col. Birdwell, now State Senator Brian Birdwell, was crossing a corridor in the Pentagon in Washington when a plane plowed into his side of the building, shredding glass and beams as it exploded in a ball of fire. Birdwell was caught in that blast and severely burned over 60 per cent of his body.

Come hear his inspiring story, how against all odds he was rescued, treated, and, surgery after painful surgery, restored to a life of service — now in the halls of the Texas Capitol as an elected representative from Senate District 22. 

Senator Birdwell joins Tea Party Patriots of Eastland County Thursday, September 8, at the beautiful Myrtle Wilks Community Center, 1498 West I 20 in Cisco. The meeting begins at 6:30 p.m.; doors open at 6:00. 

Birdwell and wife Mel together wrote of their trials in Refined by Fire: A Family’s Triumph of Love and Faith. Mel will be with him in Cisco.
