Patsy Charlene Clark Maynard, age 86, passed away peacefully on April 22, 2023 at her residence at Ranger Care Center in Ranger, Texas. Pat was born on August 30, 1936 in New London, Texas to the late Alton (Sparkey) Clark and Irma Claborn. Pat started school in Okra, Texas then later moving to Sundown and Levelland and finally moving to Rising Star, Texas where she graduated from Rising Star High School in 1955. She has a passion for glamorous hair and makeup and she followed her dream by entering cosmetology school in Abilene, Texas.

At Rising Star High School, Pat met Delwin Chambers and they married in May 1956. They had two daughters, Delynn and Denise. In 1966, Delwin was fatally injured in a tragic car accident. On September 26, 1969, Pat married Jerald Maynard who she had known as a student at Rising Star High School. Jerald was the father of two daughters, Kasey and Kaylon. Pat and Jerald moved their blended family of four teenage girls to a farm in Romney. Jerald farmed peanuts and Pat worked at the First National Bank of Rising Star.

Pat and Jerald were loyal members of the Rising Star Church of Christ. They spent their free time camping and fishing every chance they could get. Pat had many loves. She did not like being indoors doing household chores. She loved being outdoors. Pat loved riding horses and taking her daughters to rodeos. At one time, they had seven horses. She loved playing all games, especially cards and dominoes. She loved reading western novels and watching old westerns…preferably one starring John Wayne. She loved spending time with her grandchildren who called her “Nanny Pat”. The grandkids loved to visit the farm. They all learned to drive by driving her blue Cadillac without a license on the dirt roads. They also loved riding the tractor with Papa.

Pat and Jerald moved to the Woodland Senior Care Center in Eastland in 2009 where Pat made many friends. She loved playing bingo, painting, and working puzzles. She never missed a church service. She loved dressing up for special events. Her love of hair, nails and makeup never left her. She had countless wigs and loved to get her eye lashes and nails done up until her life’s end.

Nanny Pat was preceded in death by her parents Alton and Irma Clark, her husband Delwin Chambers and her husband Jerald Maynard. She is survived by her four daughters; Kasey (Hans) Bonnema of Banket, Texas, Delynn (Rick) Purvis of Eastland, Texas, Denise (Kenneth) Alford of Breckenridge, Texas and Kaylon Johnson of Salem, Virginia. She also has Thirteen grandchildren; Dana, Daniel, Dusty, Tanja, Delwin, Deonna, Dane, Caleb, Stephanie, Michael, Helena, Sieta and Kaylon, along with, 25 great grandchildren a great-great grandchild and was eagerly awaiting the births of another great grandchild and great-great grandchild.
