Odis Lee Skinner, age 88 went away to be with Jesus on Sunday, April 14. He passed peacefully at Windcrest Care Center surrounded by family. Odis was born on March 19, 1936 in Carbon, Texas to Roy Odis and Oleta Skinner, now deceased. Odis was a steadfast provider, faithful servant of the Lord, and beloved family man.
Odis served 2 years in the army, worked for Pioneer Natural Gas for 10 years and then at Texaco for the remaining 27 years of his career. Odis held roles including repairman, plant superintendent, regional superintendent, and occupational safety educator.
Odis gave his life to Jesus Christ at age 11 and served his church in a variety of roles from usher to board member. He and his wife, Carol, taught Sunday school classes and spent time passing on their wisdom to younger couples.
Odis married his high school sweetheart, Nancy Carol Norris, on August 8 of 1958 at Carbon Methodist Church. They were married 65 years and the family they created together only grew over time.
Along with his wife Carol, Odis is survived by: his children and their spouses, Darren Lee and Sheila Skinner and David Blaine and Gena Skinner, his grandchildren and their spouses: Joe and Kendall, Philip and Chelsea, Maegan and Andrew, Alyssa, Benjamin, Reece and Jasmine, and his great grandchildren: Reagan, Liam, Erin, Payton, and Walker.
