Ranger, Tx – Rudy R. Mendoza, 73, of Ranger, passed away Thursday, May 9, 2024. Mr. Mendoza was born May 18, 1950 in Ranger, Texas to Paschal and Trinidad Mendoza. Burial of his ashes will be at a later date and will be a private family ceremony.

He graduated from Ranger High School in 1968 and the University of North Texas Denton in 1972.

He began his teaching and coaching career in the Fort Worth ISD and worked there 19 years then came back home to Ranger where he taught and coached for 31 years before retiring in 2023.

Mr. Mendoza enjoyed teaching and loved every student. He loved working in his yard, taking care of his horse, his dog and playing the lottery.

He is survived by his brother Arthur Mendoza of Garland, Tx, sister Wilma Rodriguez of Ft. Worth, Tx, Step-Daughter Misty Miley, husband Steven of Ranger, Tx. and Step Daughter Kelly Burkel of Arkansas. Grandchildren Jaylon Murphy, husband Spencer of Mineral Wells, Tx, Randall Miley of Lubbock, Tx, Addyson Miley of Ranger, Tx, Hailey Hodges of Florida, Kelsey Wells husband Tyler of Breckenridge, Alexis Hodges Spencer, husband Hunter of Arkansas, River Hodges, Alaina Hodges and Mikinleigh Hodges of Arkansas. Four great-grandaughters, two great-grandsons on the way and numerous other Mendoza relatives.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Chico Mendoza and Paul Mendoza, a sister Julia Rodriguez, a sister Lydia Wylie, and his wife Beverly Mendoza.

He will be missed by everyone who knew him. His ex students are planning a memorial for him.
