Mike Manning, 82, of Eastland, Tx, passed away Sunday, December 17, 2023. A graveside to honor Mike’s life will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, December 27 at the Eastland Cemetery.

Joe Michael Manning, “Mike” was born August 12, 1941 in Gorman, Texas to Clyde Elton Manning and Balfour Odessa (Peeples) Manning.

Mike attended Eastland High School and then went on to attend Howard Payne University. Mike became a math teacher after graduation and began his teaching career in Houston, Tx. He moved back home to Eastland, TX where he dedicated his life to teaching mathematics at Eastland ISD. On most Friday nights Mike could be found in the press box at Maverick Stadium announcing the football game. After retirement Mike continued his love of math by tutoring students in need. If Mike wasn’t tutoring or out at his farm, he could be found at the Dairy Queen with a special group of friends drinking coffee and talking about the “good old days”.

Mike was preceded in death by his father, Clyde Elton Manning; mother, Balfour Odessa Manning; and sister, Dr. Mary Ann Jordan. He leaves behind a nephew, Jim Jordan and wife Alison; a niece, Tasya Bean and husband Brandon; and many other extended family members.
