Lorena Annabelle Simpson, of Austin Texas passed away December 6, 2022 at the age of 94. She was born on September 9, 1928, in Rangerville, Texas to parents Hugh Foster and Irene (Ogden) Minor.
Lorena grew up in the Rio Grande Valley of Texas, in the small community of Rangerville, just south of Harlingen.
She graduated from San Benito High school and then attended Howard Payne College in Brownwood, Texas where she met and married her husband Robert (Bob) Simpson. She taught first grade for over 30 years in Eastland and Round Rock, TX. She was a long-time member of Hyde Park Baptist church in Austin where she served and taught for many years.
Mother, grandmother, great grandmother, friend, aunt, teacher, Christian. It didn’t matter what you called her, she would welcome you in for tea, coffee and a visit. She could sing away a tummy ache, teach you about Jesus or how to make anything. She was gentle, kind and a bit sassy. “Sugar, it doesn’t matter what a person is as long as they know Jesus”. If you had a question about absolutely anything you could ask…and we all did. She loved all her babies with everything she had.
Lorena is survived by her son, Jay David and his wife Diana (DeeDee), her daughter-in-law, Lori Simpson, her five grandchildren: Courtney, Christopher, Rachel and her husband Paul, Tyler, Marshall and his wife Amy. She is also survived by her great-grandchildren: Tinzlee, Teagan, Rowan and Athena Tilly.
She is predeceased by her husband, Bob, and three of her children, Paula, Rex and Mark Simpson.
Visitation will be held at Beck Funeral Home in Round Rock on Wednesday, December 14, from 6:00pm to 8:00 pm.
Graveside services will be held at Romney Cemetery in Romney, TX on Thursday, December 15th at noon.
