Leo Daniel Banks, 84, of Denison, Texas passed away on Friday, August 11th, 2023. Leo was born February 19, 1939, to Bert and Oma Dean Banks in Palo Pinto County. Leo married Joyce Marie Medlin on September 8th, 1962. Leo and Joyce were happily married for 61 years before his passing.
After attending Gordon High School and Odessa College, Leo went on to work as an Assistant Manager at a super market and then a technician in the oil field. He ultimately worked at and retired from Kaiser Aluminum in Sherman, TX as a Senior Inspector.
Before and after retirement Leo enjoyed hunting, fishing, and the outdoors. He was also an avid enthusiast of western films and southern gospel quartets. Leo was a servant leader and deacon in his church community for years. He loved doing Wednesday night prayer for the children’s group and watching them grow in their love and passion for his Lord and Savior.
Leo is survived by his wife Joyce Banks and his daughter Kathy Mocek and son-in-law Don Mocek. Leo had 9 grandchildren and dozens of beloved great-grandchildren. Leo was also one of ten siblings and is survived by his brother Frank and sisters LeeAdria, Brenda, and Doris.
Leo was preceded in death by his loving son James Daniel Banks in 2020 and twin daughters who died in utero. Siblings who preceded Leo in death were Michael, James, Pat, Betty Nell, and Preface.
Memorial Services will be held at First Baptist Church in Strawn on Saturday, August 26 at 11 am.
