Arya Loggins

One contestant, Arya, described her adventure this way:

Something to Remember

I still remember September 24, 2021. The day I was encouraged to write a story.

Hadassah (Haddie) my friend, won 1st  place that year; I remember thinking “I want to be on that plane!” as I watched it float into the sky. I hadn’t entered in 2021; but Haddie invited me to come and celebrate with her.

A year later, I entered my story ‘Twiggy meets Lily’. It wasn’t a long story, but I knew if it was long or not, it was still a story. Finally on September 1st, we went to the event where they would declare the winners!

Ruth York asked me if I could give her a hand by handing people their certificates. While she was shuffling through the papers, I happened to see my name. My eyes grew wide, but seeing so many certificates; I figured that everyone had a certificate! When Ruth picked up my paper, I held my breath; not daring to even hope that I could have gotten one of the top three places. “Arya Loggins” Ruth began “Third in adventures in writing.”

My eyes grew as big as they could get. I wanted to jump up and down and scream; hide under a table; and hug someone, all at the same time!

In October we got to the airport. I smiled, the airplane was the same one that I had wished to be in a year ago! This year Haddie won first again, thus got sit up front in the plane. I sat in the back seat, and took pictures of me and Haddie in the plane. We got to fly all around Cisco; my two favorite parts was where we flew around the water tower and above the dam. When we got out of the plane we ran inside. “Where’s the pizza?”

Our judges look forward to reading your stories and poems.
