Jo Ann Brown-Burgess of Terrell, Texas left this earthly realm at a quarter past midnight on January 29, 2022. She passed away peacefully knowing she was loved. 

Jo Ann Burgess was born in Eastland, Texas on April 25, 1935 to parents Orville and Belle Brown. She was one of 6 children.  She was the last to pass away.  She was raised in Cisco, Texas for most of her life surrounded by many friends and family. She loved playing basketball for the Cisco Lobos where she received the most valuable player award.  In 1951 her family relocated to Abilene where she attended Abilene High School.  While working in the Wooten Hotel drug store she met a customer, Wade Hampton Burgess Jr., who would later become her husband of over fifty years.

Jo Ann loved being a mother and grandmother. She had four children, 13 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren including one great-great-grandson. She was preceded in death by her granddaughter Chanda LaRue Prior, husband Wade Hampton Burgess, Jr. and daughter Belinda Kay Nelson.

Funeral services will be in Cisco, Texas at Chambers Funeral Home at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 8, 2022.  Graveside memorial will be at Oakwood Cemetery in Cisco, Texas.
