Jessie McAfee, 94, passed away, peacefully, in his sleep, on February 6, 2025, in Celina, TX.
Jessie was a hard working, loving family man. He took the responsibility of taking care of his family very seriously. He always made sure everyone had what they needed, regardless of the cost. He kept everyone on the road safely by ensuring that their cars were performing properly. He often bought used cars to fix up and then gifted them to his family to ensure they could travel safely.
Jessie married the love of his life, Patsy Ruth Williams, on August 20,1957. His youngest son, Robert was born on August 10, 1958. Jessie delighted in telling everyone that “Bob” was born ten days before he and Patsy were married, conveniently leaving out that he was born a year after they were married. This was the Jessie McAfee sense of humor in action! He deeply grieved the loss of his beloved wife after she was promoted to Heaven on October 17, 2017. He anxiously awaited the rejoining of his lovely bride, Patsy, and we celebrate that they are together once again.
Jessie had a fulfilling career at B&B Construction, where he worked tirelessly until his well-deserved retirement in 1994. Outside of work, he had a passion for watching football, traveling, and spending time with his beloved family, often regaling them with entertaining stories from his life. He also enjoyed occasional trips to Vegas, where he inevitably won and paid for the trip and always had a little left over when he returned home.
Jessie is survived by Lola Faye Johnson – sister, Robert (Bob) McAfee – son and wife Pam, Jesse McAfee – son and wife Gayle, Brenda Stringfield – daughter and husband James. Grandchildren – Mondaa Grigsby and husband Raymond, Ray McAfee, Lynn Snow, Damon Stringfield, Carla Aubrey and husband Kevin, and Amy Herman. Great grandchildren – Geneveve Grigsby, Nicolai Grigsby, Jozilyn Grigsby, Cadence Grigsby, Ryan Snow, Austin Snow and wife Jessica, Austin Stringfield, Ceanna Stringfield, Justin Norman and Dylan Aubrey and wife Erica, along with 4 great great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Jessie is preceded in death by Robert McAfee – father, Fannie McAfee – mother, Patsy McAfee – wife, Roy Lee McAfee – brother, Lou Ollie Thompson – sister, Raymond (Pete) McAfee – brother, Robert Doyal McAfee – brother, AD McAfee – brother, Floreine (Sis) Glenn – sister, John McAfee – brother, Anna Mae (Katie) McAfee – sister.
Jessie leaves behind a legacy of love and laughter, and will be dearly missed by all who knew him. Rest in peace, Jessie, Dad, Papa, Papa Great and Uncle Jess.
Funeral services for Jessie will be held on Saturday, February 15, 2025 at 11:00am at Edwards Funeral Home Chapel in Eastland, TX with a visitation beginning one hour prior to the service at 10:00am. Interment will follow services at Eastland Cemetery.
