We have been doing a little office personnel change. We have a new Chief Deputy Jon Simcik. Previously, he worked for TABC, Williamson County, and Eastland PD. He has been in the investigator role for the last year for the Sheriff’s Office. Daniel Piper, who was a patrol deputy, is being moved to the investigator position. Inv. Piper has previously worked for Clyde, Eastland, and Aransas Pass. Josh Paschal, who has been a jailer at the Sheriff’s Office for the past 10 years, will be moving to the deputy position. He recently graduated from the law enforcement academy and this will be his first duty assignment. We have lots of training to do for each of these positions, but I feel that we have a great group moving forward.
We also lost our local MHMR crisis worker. Although she works for Center For Life Resources, she was officed at the Sheriff’s Office and worked hand in hand with our Mental Health Deputy. She took an advancement position inside her organization that requires her to be at another county. Center For Life Resources is currently trying to find her replacement for Eastland County.
