On February 28th, 2023, at approximately 1:30 am, Eastland County Sheriff Deputy Colby Jackson made a traffic stop on a speeding vehicle at IH20 Eastbound at the 339-mile marker.  The female driver was identified as Shauna Madrid W/F DOB 4-29-1986 from Roswell, New Mexico.  During the stop, a search of the vehicle was conducted. During the search, a hidden compartment in the floorboard of the vehicle was located.  Inside the compartment were over 10 pounds of Methamphetamine and over 5 pounds of Fentanyl.  The estimated street value is $577,000. Madrid was transported to the Eastland County Jail and booked in for Manufacture/Delivery of a Controlled Substance.

Sheriff Weger commended Deputy Jackson saying “Fentanyl is one of the deadliest drugs facing our nation and communities. Deputy Jackson did an outstanding job of remaining vigilant and recognizing that he had a drug trafficker stopped. He was able to take thousands of lethal doses of drugs off the streets.”
