The number of positive covid cases has risen sharply in the last few days. The following is the number of cases still in quarantine:

This number represents confirmed cases from Eastland Memorial hospital and local clinics. This does not include home testing or testing done at other facilities in Eastland County. Eastland Memorial hospital has had several admissions for covid and as well the emergency room has had to keep several patients in the ER for lack of beds and inability to make transfers to other hospitals. Cooks Children’s Hospital is at capacity with increasing COVID admissions. Two Eastland County school systems have suspended classes for most of this week.
While we can hope that this new surge in COVID (omicron variant) will peak soon, we ask everyone to follow guidelines to reduce the transmission of this virus. Wear masks in all public areas including stores, churches, indoor athletic events, and other public areas. If you have not been vaccinated, please plan to do so quickly. This past week, 70% of positives at Eastland Memorial Hospital were unvaccinated.
