EASTLAND – Funeral Services for Clyde Douglas “Buster” Herring, 88, will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, June 15, 2024 at the Leon River Cowboy Church in Eastland with Pastor Robert Whitefield and Pastor Jody Forbus officiating. Interment will follow at the Eastland City Cemetery under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home in Eastland. A visitation will be held from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Friday, June 14, 2024 at the funeral home.

Buster passed away, surrounded by family, on Tuesday, June 11, 2024 at Hendrick Medical Center in Abilene.

He was born in the midst of the Great Depression on June 1, 1936 in Gorman, Texas to Sam and Annie Mae (Robinson) Herring. Buster married the love of his life, Marjorie Fox on June 25, 1955 in Eastland, Texas. They remained sweethearts until her untimely death in 2011. He loved farming, especially baling hay. He had a special affinity for his tractors and loved animals. Being a character with a mischievous side, he loved to tease you. On occasion, he enjoyed WinStar Casino in Oklahoma and the casinos in Shreveport, Louisiana. Buster missed Marjorie dearly and visited her grave every Sunday morning. He will be missed by his family and friends.

Survivors include a sister, Belinda Kay (Herring) Angerer and spouse, Steve; five nieces, Jessica Herring and spouse, Walter Thompson, Michelle McGrath and spouse, Bobby, Tracy Suedmeyer and spouse, David, JoBeth Herring and Cathy Doyle and spouse, Jerry; two nephews, Brad Turner and spouse, Christa and Sammy Herring; three great-nieces, Sydney Heard (Ted Poe), Hannah McGrath, and Candi Kanady and spouse, Scotty; six great-nephews, Decota Suedmeyer (Katy), Zachary Heard (Selena), Dillon McGrath, Sam Turner, and Mason Turner; a great-great-nephew, Jayden Heard; a great-great-niece, Chelsi Kanady; and his beloved compadre, his dog “Buddy”.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Marjorie Herring; parents, Sam and Annie Mae Herring; two sisters, Shirle Mae Herring and Cherry Ann Herring; and a brother, Robert Joe Herring.

Pallbearers will be Victor Plambeck, Lee Maddox, Randy Fambro, Austin Forbus, John Porter, Zach Rice and Terry Sallee. Honorary Pallbearers will be Bobby Gailey, Kris Brown, and Tod Forbus.
