Bobbie Jean Acker, 95, of Eastland left this life peacefully on January 13, 2024, surrounded by family at home having lived a long and wonderful life guided by a strong faith and love for others. She was born on October 5, 1928, in Okra, Texas to the late Herman and Bonnie (McClusky) Griggs. A child of the Great Depression and World War II eras, she was practical, frugal and always grateful for what she had. She graduated from Rising Star High School in 1946 and lived most of her life in Eastland County. She worked for the Department of Health and Human Resources for many years until her retirement in 2000. Bobbie was a woman of strength overcoming many challenges that life brought her way. She was a wonderful storyteller, encourager and had a keen sense of humor. She was tough, independent and spirited – but a simple, sweet and gentle soul.
In addition to her parents, Bobbie was preceded in death by husbands Royce Wayne Acker and Bobby Junior Housh and Son, Randy Housh.
Those left to cherish her memory include two sons, Scott Housh and Jim (Peggy) Acker; daughter in law, Kathy Housh; Grandchildren, Tony (Shannon) Housh, Seth Housh, Kelly Housh, Aaron (Stephanie) Housh, Robby Housh, Farah Housh, Faith (Joey) Bowles; twelve great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
To honor her wishes, Bobbie will be cremated and make her final resting place at Eastland Cemetery. The family will host a celebration of life on Wednesday, January 17, 2024, at 2:00 PM at Edward’s Funeral Home in Eastland.
