It is with both heavy hearts and joyous memories that we celebrate the life of Deloris Elaine Jones, affectionately known as “Nubbin,” who passed away peacefully on March 30, 2025, at the age of 74. Born on June 7, 1950, in Sulphur Springs, Texas, Deloris was a beloved daughter of Carroll Horton and Viola Estelene (Reppond) Horton.

Deloris spent her life embracing adventure and the great outdoors, particularly relishing her time at the lake. She forged a remarkable career as a truck driver, where she experienced the open road and built camaraderie with fellow drivers. She exemplified determination and dedication throughout her life.

Family was at the heart of Deloris’s world. She cherished every moment spent with her loved ones, particularly her sisters, Sheridan Scott and Patsy Armstrong, who remain to carry forth her spirit. Deloris was a woman of faith, finding strength and solace in her Baptist beliefs.

A celebration of Deloris’s remarkable life will take place in the days to come, where family and friends will gather to share loving memories and honor the beautiful soul that she was. The funeral services will reflect her joy for life, adorned with stories, laughter, and perhaps a few tears, as we all remember her vivacious spirit and her love for the outdoors. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home of Eastland.

In this moment of sorrow, let us also rejoice in the legacy she leaves behind and the indelible mark she made on the hearts of those who were fortunate to know her. Deloris Elaine Jones will forever be cherished and her memory will live on in the laughter and love she shared with us all.

She is survived by her two sisters, Sheridan Scott and Patsy Vilene Armstrong both of Eastland; Five nephews, John Armstrong and wife, Tammie, Dwayne Scott and wife, Robyn, Jody Scott and wife Lisa, Brad Scott, Larry Horton and husband, Jimmy; A niece, Liz. and numerous other great nieces and nephews.

Deloris was preceded in death by her parents; Carroll and Viola Horton; a brother, Jene Carroll Horton and her life partner, Bonnie Floyd.
