STRAWN- Katy Ruth Abbott, 82, was called to her heavenly home on Monday, August 12, 2024 surrounded by her family and loved ones. Funeral services for Katy will be held at 10:00am, Friday, August 16, 2024 at First Baptist Church, Strawn, Texas with Eric Nowak officiating and Dave Blessing assisting. A visitation will be held from 6:00PM until 8:00PM, Thursday, August 15, 2024 at Edwards Funeral Home of Strawn.

Katy was born on April 2, 1942 in Falfurrias, Texas to Elva and Gladys (Smith) Hunt. She graduated from Seymour High School. Katy married Graydon Shawver Abbott on October 16, 1960 in Seymour, Texas. There were a few times in her life while raising her children that she was able to be a stay-at-home mom, most of her life she worked outside the home. Katy enjoyed sewing, cooking and her plants. Her greatest passion and love were her family, her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren visiting with them and attending their football and basketball games. Katy was a big supporter and attended drag-racing with her husband over the years. She was a member of First Baptist Church Strawn and received much joy out of the Bible Studies over the years. If you ever met Katy, you were for sure going to hear about her loving Savior, Jesus Christ.

Survivors include her husband, Graydon Shawver Abbott; son, Craig and wife, Delane; daughter, Teresa Harrison and husband, Ralph; grandchildren, Lawrence Tretter and wife, Tiffany, Lucas Tretter and wife, Tiffany, Katy Wells and husband, Mason, Johny Abbott and wife, Meagan, Collier Abbott and wife, Mackenzie, Shelly Moore and husband, Jason; 12 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her father, Elva Hunt; mother, Gladys Hunt; son, Graydon Glen Abbott; three siblings and their spouses, Henry and Nancy Hunt, Mildred and Floyd Latham and Edward Nelson and Sherylle Hunt.

Pallbearers will be; Scooter Hunt, L.G. Tretter, Lucas Tretter, Johny Abbott, Cole Abbott, Mason Wells and Jim Pollock.

Honorary pallbearers are; Danny Miller, Guy Wallace, Kaleb Ward, Robert Thomas, Johnny Caudle and Jason Moore.
