Jacob Bradley Jackson-Lain, a loving and gentle soul of Gordon, TX, left this world far too soon on December 12, 2023, at the age of 20. Visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at Edwards Funeral Home in Strawn, TX, on December 19, 2023. Funeral services will be held on December 20, 2023, at the First Baptist Church in Gordon, TX, at 10:00 a.m. Jeralyn Sledge of Covenant Love Ministry will be officiating. Burial will immediately follow the funeral at the New Gordon Cemetery. Funeral arrangements are being handled by Edwards Funeral Home.
Born on July 5, 2003, in Ft. Worth, TX, Jacob brought unparalleled energy and warmth to every room he entered. He was known for his infectious smile that made everyone around him feel at ease. Standing at 6 feet 6 inches tall, Jacob had a gentle giant’s presence about him. His vibrant personality and genuine kindness were evident in how he effortlessly connected with people from all walks of life. Whether through his laughter or compassion, he had an extraordinary gift for making others feel valued and loved. In addition to his magnetic personality, Jacob was a devoted son, brother, and friend. His absence will be deeply felt by his loving family members, who cherished his presence and admired his ability to brighten even the darkest of days.
Throughout his 20 years, Jacob lived life to the fullest. Jacob was proud to have graduated with a high school diploma from The Master’s Learning Institute in Abilene, TX. Jacob was a hard worker and enjoyed his job at Schreiber Foods, where he worked for five months alongside his mother. Jacob also enjoyed spending time with family, fishing, and video games.
Jacob is survived by his mother, Starr Lain, sister Gracie, and brother Elijah. Grandmother Tammy Jackson, grandfather Johnnie Jackson, uncle Craig Jackson and aunt Sara Jackson, uncle Jeremy Jackson and aunt Lauren Jackson, aunt Lindy Matthews and uncle Stephen Matthews, great-grandmother Connie Johnstone, great-grandmother Charlotte Daniels, great-aunt Kim Daniels, great-uncle Breck Daniels, great-uncle Monte Jackson and multiple cousins. Father Cody Lain and his wife Shannon Lain, sisters Kodeeh and Kayson, and brothers Kameron, Cutter, and Cole. Grandmother Debora Unkart, uncle Jimmy Ronald Lain II, great-grandmother Frances Sharp, great-uncle Danny Sharp, and multiple cousins.
Jacob is preceded in death by great-grandfather Pete Jackson, great-grandfather Jackie Daniels, uncle Troy Daniels, aunt Misty Mae Jackson, aunt Gwendolyn Jackson, and cousin Alec Aubrey Jackson. Grandfather Jimmy Ronald Lain I, great-grandfather Jerry Sharp, great-great grandmother Marguerite Riebe, great aunt Dianne Sharp, and great-uncle Jerry Don Sharp.
While Jacob’s untimely departure has left a profound sense of loss, his memory will continue to live on in the hearts of those fortunate enough to have known him.
