Billy Wayne Davis, of Ranger, passed peacefully in his sleep, Saturday, October 22, 2022 at the age of 90. Bill was born in Smackover, AR on January 21, 1932 to Lynn and Mary Davis. He met Wanda June Drinkard in Falfurrias, TX, whom he later married on March 16, 1951 in Oregon. Bill served in the Air Force for 15 years. The couple was stationed in many places around the country as well as Germany. They eventually settled in Fort Worth, TX. Upon leaving the service, Bill was employed by the Cotton Belt Southern Pacific Railroad, retiring after 30 years of employment. They moved to Ranger, TX in the early 2000s, where they lived out their “golden” years. Mr. Davis was preceded in death by his adoring wife of 69 years, Wanda June Davis, a son Lynn Marion Davis, III, parents, two brothers and a sister. Bill is survived by his oldest son Michael Davis and wife Kelly and daughter Kathy Gibson and husband Dan. Other survivors include grandchildren Chris Davis, Cara Griswold and husband Jeff, Mary Gibson, Susie Sears and husband Rafael, and Becky Douglas and husband Bryson. Great-grandchildren include Mari, Bella, Addie and Davis Griswold. He is also survived by nephews, nieces and honorary granddaughters Jackie Garza and Liz Brandt of Ranger. Services Wednesday October 26 at Edwards Funeral Home in Ranger, TX. Visitation from 12-1:45 pm followed by a graveside memorial at 2 pm in Evergreen Cemetery.
