Man Guilty of Poisioning Deer Near Rising Star
Tuesday in J.P court, Judge James King found Raymond Gregory guilty of the illegal taking of wild game. Fines were set at $565.00. Texas Parks & Wildlife brought charges against Mr. Gregory after it was discovered that Mr. Gregory had corn seed treated with Temik placed in and around some peanut fields in Eastland County in October of 2009. Temik laced corn was being used to kill the feral hogs that destroy peanut fields. The results of this contamination killed several feral hogs and a deer. It is illegal to poison deer and the Texas Parks & Wildlife has the power to recover the value of an animal through a civil suit.
