Cisco College Opens Transition Centers

CISCO, Texas – Cisco College will open Transition Centers on both campuses. Ribbon cutting activities are scheduled to begin on Feb. 16 in Abilene and Feb. 17 in Cisco at 9 a.m. respectively.

On hand for the openings will be recruiters from Texas Tech University, Angelo State University, Tarleton State University, Hardin Simmons University, McMurry University, Howard Payne University, University of Texas at Arlington and Lubbock Christian University. Representatives from the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board, including Kim Christian and Dr. Pam Rogers are also scheduled to attend.

The centers will assist students with a broad range of concerns. From admission to graduation to transfer to a four-year institution, the centers will help students navigate college successfully. They will also offer a location for four-year partner schools to provide counseling services directly to potential transfer students in Cisco and Abilene.

“The college has taken a progressive stance toward student success initiatives, and these transition centers will serve to help our students complete their college careers,” said Lori Grubbs, director of college transitions at Cisco College.

Funding for the transition centers comes from a $215,000 grant that the college was awarded by the Texas Higher Educating Coordinating Board.

The Transition Center in Cisco will be located in Schaeffer Hall, room 6 and in room 111 at the Abilene Educational Center. All activities are free and the public is invited to attend.

With over 4,200 students, Cisco College is the largest two-year college in West Central Texas.
