Ruby Pauline Kent Latson - Abilene

Ruby Pauline Kent Latson, age 86, passed away Monday December 28, 2009 in Abilene, TX. Graveside Funeral Services will be held at 3:00 pm, Wednesday, December 30, 2009 at the Oakwood Cemetery in Cisco. Open visitation will be held Wednesday morning before the graveside service at Summers-Chambers Funeral Home in Cisco from 9:00 am until time of service.

Ruby Pauline Kent was the eldest of four children born to Marvin Lee and Willie Mae (Stone) Kent on October 1, 1923 at Crawford, McLennon County, Texas. Ruby moved with her family to Cisco at a young age and married her high school sweetheart, Robert Lee Latson, in Dallas on December 23, 1943. They had one child, a son, Richard Charles Latson, Lord of Ashow. The couple lived in Dallas, Pampa, Cisco, Odessa, Cross Plains and moved to Abilene in 1964. During her professional career she worked in real estate, oil and gas, law, insurance and banking and retired as vice-president of the then NCNB of Abilene in the fall of 1988.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, John Hugh Kent; and her husband Bob, who passed away in 1999.

Ruby is survived by her son, Richard Charles Latson, Lord of Ashow, of Silver Springs, Maryland; two brothers, George Nolen Kent of Fort Worth and Donald Ray and wife Betty Gallagher Kent of Tulsa, Oklahoma; and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.
