Charles E. Houston - Eastland

Houston, CharlesEastland- Charles E. Houston, age 75, passed away Sunday, November 22, 2009. Funeral services were held Tuesday, December 1, 2009 at 1:00 pm at Summers-Bakker Funeral Home Chapel.

What a beautiful day it was on September 20, 1934 in Athens, Texas when the union of Rev. Bennie Franklin Houston and Ruth Houston were blessed with their last child, Charles Edward Houston.

Charles (Charlie) Houston was the last child of the Houston’s to enter this world and the last child out of the six siblings to exit this world.

Charlie grew up in Flint, Texas and later moved to Travis State School in Austin, Texas. He relocated in 1984 to Northview Development Center in Eastland, Texas where he also worshiped with the Liberty Baptist Church.

Charlie was a landscaper all his life. His hobbies consisted of playing the wooden spoons at functions for Northview Development Center and Church; picking pecans; and participating in the Special Olympics.

He leaves to cherish: nieces, nephews, and cousins; Northview Development Staff and Consumers; and Liberty Baptist Church Family.

    Charlie, I’ll always remember you laughing. You had an ability that not too many people have–you laughed through your problems. And then there were those “sticks”…I never could figure out how you played them. You brought many people joy in your lifetime and now I know you’re bringing joy in Heaven, right where you belong.
